Achieving pharma supply chain excellence through integrations

Digital transformation is having a huge impact on pharma supply chains, supporting patient safety and giving companies a competitive advantage. But key to this process are the integrations between different systems.
Using integrations to unlock innovation in pharma supply chains

Digital innovation is impacting nearly every aspect of modern life. From banking to retail, companies are driving huge improvements in the services and experiences they offer to users by breaking data streams out of silos and bringing them together on single platforms. This increased visibility is helping companies to better understand their users, supply chains and workflows, and to drive innovation across every part of their organizations.

Digital transformation is also beginning to have a huge impact on pharma supply chains, ensuring that patients get better care and companies can establish a stronger competitive advantage. While the industry as a whole has been slower than others to incorporate digital solutions into their workflows, we are still seeing cloud, AI, data lakes and wearable solutions redefine established processes.

Key to this digital transformation are the integrations between different systems.

Using integrations to facilitate innovation

Temperature monitoring is a perfect example of a previously siloed data stream that can drive significant value across the whole pharma supply chain. Having a clear picture of the temperature throughout the entire supply chain, from shipping to the last mile, is an essential part of ensuring the drugs patient receive are safe and effective. But by integrating that data into a broader supply chain management system, that data can be used to drive efficiencies, reduce waste, and help companies realize the full benefits of digitalization.

While temperature monitoring data is an important asset on its own, we think its true value comes when seen in the context of other data. That is why we have built a range of integrations that allow pharma companies to enhance their oversight and power more informed decisions.

Here are some examples of the ways temperature monitoring data can be combined with various parts of the digital pharma ecosystem:

ERP

For companies, ERP solutions are an effective way to get a broader picture of how their supply chains operate. They enable efficient and accurate data entry through prepopulated temperature profiles and broader shipment information.

Two-way integrations automatically feed temperature monitor data back into the ERP system for further processing. This not only eliminates the time-consuming task of looking up the data in different systems, it also lowers the risk of inconsistent data through use of master data from originating systems. Having a live data feed has an instant impact when it comes to information integrity and consistency.

Third-party data loggers

TSS supplies data loggers for a broad range of needs, but we can also integrate and ingest data from third-party data loggers into our hardware-agnostic platform, for maximum customer flexibility.

IRT/RTSM

This essential integration is designed to facilitate efficient and effective clinical trials. It simplifies the process of making sure that dispensed treatments are safe, automating the excursion review process, and creating a fully CFR Part 11-compliant process for product release and inspection review.

Freight Forwarder

This solution allows teams to monitor supply chain performance and identify risk areas and improvements throughout the entire logistics process. It provides a single place for teams to identify the location of the temperature excursion either in transit or at the site, as well as supporting root cause analysis and reducing manual work. By overlaying temperature data to other operational milestones, the integration streamlines the evaluation of the freight forwarder performance for faster and more accurate temperature management.

Weather

We are also able to integrate weather prediction data into route planning or packaging processes to enable even more informed decision-making. When evaluating why an excursion happened on a specific shipment, the weather information at the time can be valuable information.

Single Sign On (SSO)

All users can access TSS’ systems using their SSO corporate login. This provides a simplified user administration and review experience that aligns with the vast majority of corporate user roles and IT security policies. We also provide support integrations with all market leaders, including Microsoft Azure, OAuth 2.0 and Exostar.

Corporate Data Lakes

We also offer a standardized, flexible, and secure solution for synchronizing data to customer data lakes. This is providing companies with real value and supporting their corporate initiatives to drive improvements across functions.

One of the most powerful parts of integrations is the flexibility they enable. Companies can choose the integrations that offer the most value to them – but only if the underlying technology is compatible with a broad range of software and hardware.

Getting the full value out of your supply chain temperature data

An important lesson of the first two decades of the millennium is that driving business value is often not about simply collecting as much data as you can. Instead, it is about creating systems that turn the data you have into useful insights and distribute them effectively to the people who need them.
