On-demand webinar: Automating the clinical supply chain

We believe automation is essential to making supply chains more visible and removing inefficiencies that come with manual tasks. Watch our webinar to find out more about how to achieve automation in your clinical supply chain.

Our North America VP, Evan Hahn, presented on June 23rd three different approaches that clinical professionals can take to evolve their supply chains and achieve full oversight of the drug shipment process. During the webinar, Evan covered:

Automating temperature excursion management

The current processes for reviewing temperature excursions are highly manual and time-consuming, often taking days or longer to complete.  During the evaluations, treatments are placed in quarantine, making them unavailable for dispensation.  Automating this process allows these evaluations to be conducted instantly – discerning between excursions and deviations. Sponsors who have automated their excursion reviews have seen over a 90% reduction in their quarantines during clinical trials and significantly reduced disruption to their supply chain and patient visits.

Leveraging IoT within eClinical infrastructures

Unlocking the potential of the IoT streamlines the process of uploading temperature data from a range of devices through the clinical supply chain. Several technologies have emerged as ways of providing seamless monitoring of the entire distribution journey. Next-generation IoT technologies allow for the seamless ingestion of temperature data – providing the best of both worlds for sponsors:  a reduction in site burden while ensuring 100% collection of your temperature data.

Data technology for end-to-end clinical supply management

Most clinical trials are conducted with disparate solutions for ensuring that treatments have not had unsafe temperature deviations (temperature management) and treatment dispensation (IRT/RTSM).  This creates unnecessary work and risk as it requires the IRT to be manually updated in the event of temperature deviations.  By Integrating these solutions, deviations automatically update the IRT to prevent dispensation and ensure the integration of your supply chain.

Achieving FDA and EMA Compliance in Temperature Monitoring

Many pharmaceuticals and biological products require specific temperature conditions during manufacturing, storage, and transport to ensure their quality and safety. Failure to maintain these conditions can lead to product degradation, making them less effective or even dangerous. To protect public health, regulatory authorities like the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European Medicines Agency (EMA) have established strict guidelines to manage these products. To comply with these regulations, life science companies must adopt advanced temperature monitoring systems that can track and record conditions continuously and reliably. This whitepaper explains the main requirements from both the FDA and EMA, the role of technology in maintaining compliance, and the best practices for setting up effective temperature monitoring systems.
